  1. Which versions of the Palm handheld can be upgraded
    with LinuxDA O/S?

    Currently, Palm IIIx, Palm IIIxe, and Palm Vx can be upgraded with LinuxDA O/S.
  2. Can my Handspring Visor be upgraded with LinuxDA O/S?
    The Handspring Visor (and all other Handspring handheld
    devices) is not upgradeable because it is not available with
    upgradeable Flash ROM. For further details, please see

  3. Can my Palm M100 or Palm M105 be upgraded with LinuxDA O/S?
    Palm M100 and Palm M105 are not upgradeable because
    upgradeable Flash ROM is currently not available for either

  4. Can other versions of the Palm handheld (Palm IIIc, Palm M500, Palm M505) be upgraded with LinuxDA O/S?
    At present, LinuxDA O/S is not available for other Palm devices;however, we have chosen several of the newer, more popular Palm versions for future LinuxDA O/S development. Please continue to check www.linuxda.com for product developments and updates.

    There is a converter program for converting the following
    formats:

  8. Does LinuxDA O/S support Palm applications?
    No, at this time, LinuxDA O/S does not support any Palm
    applications; it only supports LinuxDA applications (see
    question #6).
  9. Is the PowerPlay III PDA Palm IIIxe compatible?
    The PowerPlay III PDA is Palm IIIxe HARDWARE compatible only. PowerPlay III is embedded with LinuxDA O/S; therefore, the PDA does not support any Palm applications.
  10. Do you support MP3? Does the PowerPlay III PDA have an audio port?
    Currently, we do not support MP3. The PowerPlay III PDA does not have an audio port.
  11. Does the PowerPlay III PDA support the Palm modem and folding keyboard?
    The PowerPlay III PDA interface is different than the Palm
    PDA interface; therefore, any Palm peripherals (modem,
    keyboard) are currently not compatible with the PowerPlay III PDA.

    Currently, we do not support USB.
  13. What is the difference between LinuxDA O/S for Palm Professional Package and LinuxDA O/S for Palm
    Consumer Package?

    There are several differences between the 2 packages:

  14. Does the PowerPlay III PDA support any kind of external hardware?
    Currently, the PowerPlay III PDA does not support any external hardware; however, external hardware for PowerPlay III will be available in the immediate future.
  15. Does the PowerPlay III PDA have an IR interface for communication with a phone (Nokia) or other external device?
    PowerPlay III has an IR interface, but it is only programmed to communicate with devices that are embedded with LinuxDA O/S.
  16. Is it possible to connect the Power Play III PDA to a
    printer or other serial device?

    It is possible to connect the PowerPlay III PDA to a printer with a serial interface. There is UART APIs in the LinuxDA SDK, which can be used to write a printing program for the printer.

  18. How long will the batteries last for PowerPlay III?
    The battery length depends on how often the PDA is used. With the auto-off set to one minute (default), the batteries should last for approximately one month with normal use.

    Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. Currently, the lengthy delivery time is a result of the high volume of PowerPlay III PDAs being purchased. However, within the next few months, we expect the wait time to gradually decrease.
  21. Can I pay for LinuxDA O/S for Palm and download it immediately?
    Yes - please visit the LinuxDA store at www.linuxda.com,
    where you can purchase and immediately download LinuxDA O/S for Palm. A package including the identical version of LinuxDA O/S for Palm on CD will be shipped to you. This package will include a Quick Start User Manual and a Handwriting Guide, as well as other important documents for
    your use.

    Currently, the PowerPlay III PDA can only be purchased online;however, we will be coming to stores near you in the immediate future.
  23. To what countries is the PowerPlay III PDA available for distribution?
    At this time, the PowerPlay III PDA is available for distribution to US and Canada only. However, due to the overwhelming interest of many individuals who reside outside of North America, we will consider advancing the international launch date. This will be accomplished within the immediate future, as your interest is extremely important to us. Please email [email protected] for additional information concerning international orders.
